Overview
The Omni Network is a platform designed to integrate Ethereum rollups, providing developers and users with comprehensive access to Ethereum’s features and liquidity. Omni has achieved a notable milestone as the first Actively Validated Service (AVS) to secure $1 billion in restaked $ETH from top liquid restaking protocols including EtherFi, Renzo, Puffer, Kelp, Swell, EigenPie, BedRock and Rio. Subsequent to this, the Omni Foundation released a whitepaper that describes Omni's role as a foundational element in the Ethereum infrastructure. The final test phase, known as Omni Omega, has commenced on the Holesky testnet, with plans to soon launch on the mainnet as one of the first EigenLayer AVSs.
In preparation for its mainnet launch, the Omni Foundation has announced the $OMNI Genesis airdrop program, aimed at rewarding the Omni community and its Ethereum ecosystem partners. For more details on the $OMNI token's role, reference is available in a specific post on their platform.
Genesis Airdrop Details
The Omni Foundation is set to release $OMNI as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, with a total issuance of 100 million tokens, 3% of which will be distributed via an airdrop.
The eligibility for the airdrop was determined retrospectively as of April 3, 2024. Participants have a 45-day window to claim their $OMNI tokens, after which unclaimed tokens will revert to the Omni Foundation for future community initiatives.
Eligibility for the Genesis airdrop can currently be verified, with the claim process expected to be enabled soon. The 45-day claim period will start once this functionality is available. The Omni Foundation will notify users through official channels such as Twitter and Discord and advise caution to avoid potential scams.
Omni Community
1,500,000 $OMNI, or 50% of the Genesis airdrop, is allocated to the Omni community. This recognises the contributions of early testnet participants, developers and key community members. Allocation criteria include participation in previous testnet phases and deployment of applications on the Omni Overdrive testnet. Anti-sybil measures were applied during the data preparation phase to ensure integrity. Addresses that passed initial sybil checks receive half of the allocated $OMNI Genesis rewards for testnet participants, with the remainder distributed after further anti-sybil testing. Final allocations will be set before the claim date.
EigenLayer Restakers
400,000 $OMNI, or 13.3% of the Genesis airdrop, is reserved for the top 10,000 restakers who have used EigenLayer and other liquid restaking protocols, highlighting their role in supporting Omni's security model.
Beacon Chain Solo Stakers
300,000 $OMNI, representing 10% of the Genesis airdrop, is designated for solo stakers on Ethereum’s Beacon Chain, acknowledging their role in maintaining network decentralisation. Rewards will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis to the first 5,000 eligible stakers.
Milady Maker & Redacted Remilio Babies NFT Holders
380,000 $OMNI, or 12.7% of the Genesis airdrop, will go to holders of specific NFTs that have supported the Ethereum culture during the bear market, with eligibility details provided for specific wallet addresses.
Pudgy Penguin NFT Holders
170,000 $OMNI, or 5.7% of the Genesis airdrop, acknowledges the role of the Pudgy Penguins project in expanding the value perception of NFTs beyond speculative assets through initiatives like IP licensing.
The airdrop is not available to residents of several countries including the United States, Canada, China and others, due to regulatory constraints. The $OMNI Genesis airdrop is a significant event as Omni progresses towards a fully decentralised network. Users can check their eligibility on the Genesis claims page, with further announcements expected through Omni’s official communications channels.
